*Hurricane Crimes is a short story.*
After her car breaks down, Beth Kennedy is forced to stay in Florida, the target of Hurricane Sabrina. She stocks up supplies, boards up windows, and hunkers down to wait out the storm, but her plan unravels when she witnesses a car accident. Risking her life, she braves the winds to save the driver. Just when she believes they are safe, she finds out the man she saved could possibly be more dangerous than the severe weather.
Donovan Goldwyn only wanted to hide from the police, but the hurricane shoved his car into a tree. Now he’s trapped with a beautiful woman while the evidence that can prove his innocence to a brutal crime is out there for anyone to find.
As Hurricane Sabrina wreaks havoc, Beth has no other choice but to trust Donovan to stay alive. But will she survive, or will she become another hurricane crime?
Welcome to My Book Addiction, Chrys! I’m so thrilled you stopped by to share a bit about yourself with your fans. First of all, can you tell us a little bit about your debut novella, Hurricane Crimes?
CF: Hurricane Crimes is a romantic-suspense story perfect for readers looking for a quick story they can immerse themselves in for a couple of hours. It takes place in Florida during a category five hurricane and follows Beth Kennedy, a woman who finds herself trapped with a man who might be a murderer.
MBA: When did you first start writing? What was the first thing you wrote?
CF: I was six-years-old when I wrote and illustrated a story about a boy and a girl who go sailing all by themselves. Don’t worry, my stories are a lot better now.
MBA: I know you’ve published other stories online prior to Hurricane Crimes. Can you tell us a little about those?
CF: The Summer Bride was published by The Story Shack in September 2013 and features the main character from my unpublished supernatural-thriller series. I also published a short memoir about the spine surgery I had at the age of fifteen. This piece offers great detail to what it was like healing from such a surgery, physically and mentally.
MBA: On your website, you have sections about learning to write a novel and you even have a 30 day writing challenge, can you elaborate on that a little?
CF: I was searching for a 30 day writing challenge to complete, but the ones I found were quite silly. I didn’t want to write about my opinions on Lady Gaga. I wanted to do challenges that would get my creative juices flowing, so I decided to create my own challenge. Although the challenge says “30 Days” you could do one a week, several in one day, or pick and choose. The goal isn’t how long it takes to complete, but what you create. The goal is that my challenge will bring fresh story ideas to writers and even introduce them to new characters.

MBA: Where does your inspiration come from?
CF: Everywhere! Many of my dreams have sparked story ideas as well as people I’ve seen in Wal-Mart, and even inanimate objects such as screws and safety pins. Yes, really!
MBA: Where do you see your writing career five years from now?
CF: Five years from now I hope I have several more eBooks and print books published. I would love to have releases out with a widely known romance company, and an agent for my supernatural-thriller series. My fingers are crossed!
MBA: Can you tell us what you have in the works for the future?
CF: This summer my second romantic-suspense novella, 30 Seconds, will be coming out. 30 Seconds is packed with passion, mobsters, police officers, and plenty of danger. I am also currently working on my novel, In the Ring, a romance about a wrestler and a librarian, which I am pushing to get out by the end of the year.
MBA: Is there anything else you’d like to share with your fans? Quirky things about yourself or writing rituals you may have? Favorite foods? Anything you’d like to share, really!
CF: I decorate my writing desk according to holidays. In October I have a haunted desk. In December I have a winter wonderland.
Thank you so much for being here with us today. It’s been such a pleasure chatting with you, Chrys! I’m looking forward to cracking open my copy of Hurricane Crimes. Thank you for making it FREE until January 18th!
