Zombelina loves to dance. She moonwalks with mummies and boogies with bats. She spins like a specter and glides like a ghost and loves to dance for her family the most. When Zombelina enrolls in a ballet class for real girls, her dancing gives everyone the chills! But when her first recital brings on a case of stage fright, her zombie moans and ghoulish groans scare her audience away. Only her devoted family’s cheers, in their special spooky way, help Zombelina dance the ballet debut of her dreams.
Introducing the most adorable zombie to ever grace the dance floor, Kristyn Crow’s pitch-perfect rhyme and Molly Idle’s charmingly spook-tacular illustrations will make every reader want to sway and sashay in their own zombie trance.
Kids Corner: Storytime Vlog
A children’s picture book about a little zombie girl? You know darn well I had no choice but to do this as part of zOctober! This book is awesome and not the slightest bit scary for little ones. My oldest daughter was a little afraid when I told her we’d be reading a book about a zombie ballerina — which I find hilarious since she frequently begs to play kids zombie games on my tablet. I knew they would both love the book so I didn’t hesitate to buy it. My only fear… they will get tired of me reading it to them all the time!
Zombelina loves to dance, as most little girls do. Even though Zombelina is a zombie she still has the same worries and insecurities that all children deal with. I was thrilled to learn that this book touches on real issues in a way that little ones can relate to, especially since my oldest daughter just started ballet and will have a recital coming up in the spring.
Recommended age: Pre-K and up!
