May Monster Madness 2013 – Day 6

Welcome to May Monster Madness 2013! Hosted by the totally awesome Annie Walls – author of The Famished Trilogy, Emma from Little Gothic Horrors, and Ked from Something Wicked this Way Comes.

My Favorite Children’s Monster Movies

Since I have two little monsters of my own, I am forced to watch a lot of kids movies. Some of them are not so good, others have surprised me, to the point that I watch them even if my kids have wandered off to find something better to do. So here are just a few of my favorites!

Hotel Transylvania

Starring: Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, CeeLo Green, Molly Shannon, and more!

Hotel Transylvania is a movie I could watch again and again – with or without the kids. It has a great cast, fabulous storyline, and incredible animation. Have you seen this movie? If not, you should definitely check it out!

Monsters, Inc.

Starring: John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Mary Gibbs, Steve Buscemi, Jennifer Tilly, James Coburn.

It was love at first sight the moment I laid eyes on Monsters, Inc. I became a little too obsessed with it. I have a Boo doll that I won’t even let my daughters play with because I know darn well they will mess her hair up. That’s reasonable, right?

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Starring: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O’Hara

Who doesn’t love Tim Burton? I can’t think of anything he’s written that I’m not a fan of. This is one of my all time favorites, though. My go-to coffee mug is a purple Sally mug that I purchased at the Disney Store many years ago. I don’t even think they manufacture it anymore. I have Nightmare Before Christmas decorations for almost every holiday/season, and even have bottles of Ragdoll perfume from Hot Topic. Yeah, I’m a bit obsessed with this one.

I am in awe of the vivid stop-motion animation, and the super imaginative storyline that is Coraline. My husband hates this movie, thinks it’s just too strange. I, being slightly strange, adore this movie. My six-year-old daughter loves it too. My four-year-old daughter was a bit scared the first time we watched it, but she has come to enjoy it as well.
